Our People

“It always seems impossible until it’s done.” - Nelson Mandela

Our people are the heart and soul of the Glodina story: the spirit, skill, and dedication behind every towel we create. From the factory floor to the boardroom, each individual plays a role in weaving our legacy of excellence.

Our Story of Resilience & Renewal

Glodina’s® journey is as much about human resilience as it is about textiles. Between 2017 and 2018, a temporary shutdown brought profound challenges. Jobs were lost, livelihoods were shaken, and yet, our community held strong. When the doors reopened, it wasn’t just operations we revived, but the very lifeblood of our brand: the people whose hands, hearts and expertise define Glodina.

That chapter reaffirmed what we have always known: our success is only as strong as the communities we serve and the people we employ.

A Commitment to Good Corporate Citizenship

At Glodina® Group, business success is inseparable from the wellbeing of our people. We are proud to employ approximately 285 individuals, 98% of whom are people of colour; a living reflection of South Africa’s vibrant diversity. Each role we create sustains a household, uplifts a community, and strengthens the textile industry as a whole.

Empowering Our People

Behind every award-winning Glodina® towel is a network of artisans, technicians, designers and innovators, each bringing their expertise to the craft:

  • Weaving & Knitting: The heartbeat of our manufacturing
  • Dyeing (Piece & Yarn): Ensuring vibrant, lasting colour
  • Sewing (CMT): Shaping and perfecting every edge
  • Textile Design: Transforming ideas into tactile beauty
  • Quality Control & Product Inspection: Safeguarding our signature standard
  • Logistics & Warehousing: Ensuring seamless delivery from us to the world

These skills are honed through years of mentorship, apprenticeships (N1–N3), and hands-on precision work. They uphold the standard known globally as Glodina® quality.

Investing in Skills & Growth

We believe that learning never stops, and neither does our commitment to developing our people. Our structured training and apprenticeship programmes in weaving, knitting and textile production preserve scarce skills and ensure operational excellence for generations to come.

Through National Certificate Learnerships in Clothing, Textiles, Footwear and Leather (CTFL), we empower young South Africans with industry-relevant qualifications, practical experience and pathways to long-term employment.

This investment is not compliance; it is a strategy. It safeguards our craftsmanship, fuels innovation, and contributes to the broader national skills base.

Celebrating Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity is more than representation; it is a source of innovation, resilience, and strength. Our teams bring together multiple provinces, languages, generations and cultural perspectives, creating an environment where ideas flourish and solutions thrive.

We are guided by a formal Employment Equity Policy and a dedicated Employment Equity Committee, ensuring fair recruitment, equitable opportunities and accountability in building a truly inclusive workplace.

Pride & Legacy

For many, working at Glodina is more than a job, it is a family tradition. Multiple generations have walked through our doors, carrying forward decades of craftsmanship, loyalty and pride.

Our culture is nurtured through shared practices: new staff inductions, regular HR roadshows, engagement initiatives and unwavering adherence to our values of service, integrity, and excellence.

Innovation & Customer Focus

Our people are our innovation engine. From factory floor insights to customer‑facing expertise, every employee contributes to refining our processes, improving efficiency, and meeting client needs with agility.

Whether adjusting production schedules to meet high‑demand periods or tailoring manufacturing lines for bespoke orders, our teams embody the flexibility and precision our clients trust.

Recognition & Wellbeing

We celebrate achievement through performance‑based recognition programmes, ensuring that excellence is rewarded and growth is encouraged.

Wellbeing is a priority; from our onsite clinic offering accessible medical care to our rigorous safety protocols, we ensure that our workplace is not only productive, but also safe, supportive and healthy.
