Our Impact

Woven for a Better Tomorrow

We believe that true success is not just measured in products delivered, it is also in the lives uplifted, the communities empowered, the environment protected and the futures secured. Every towel we craft is a thread in a larger story of purpose, legacy, and sustainability.

Environmental Sustainability

We are driven by a steadfast commitment to minimising our carbon footprint across all stages of production, from fibre selection to the finished product.

Energy Efficiency

All lighting across our entire operation is systematically being upgraded to energy efficient LEDs and our new machinery has been specified for energy‑conscious manufacturing. Our innovative dyeing technology reduces utility requirements by 25%, while automatic dosing of chemicals limits our waste and effluent treatment costs.

Sustainable Luxury

Select product ranges and bespoke manufacturing orders are crafted from BCI Cotton, while all dyes and chemicals are sourced from multinational companies, and do not contain globally red‑listed substances. Our packaging is responsibly sourced and FSC-compliant, and all our cardboard and textile hard waste is recycled.

Compliance & Goals

Annual SMETA audits are conducted to ensure that environmental waste standards are consistently met. Looking forward our goals include:

  • Treating wastewater for reuse
  • Implementing rainwater harvesting by 2025
  • Actively pursue energy‑reduction initiatives

In achieving these goals, Glodina® Group will save over 115 million litres of potable water per year.

Shaping a Sustainable Textile Industry

Through the restoration of local towelling production, we are able to reduce import reliance, spur industrial development, and drive resource efficiency. Glodina’s® flagship Black Label towels, specifically the Marathon® range, embody innovation via reduced water usage, faster drying and enhanced durability.

The Value of True Impact

True impact comes from meaningful action that changes lives. By reviving local manufacturing, Glodina® has created hundreds of jobs in Hammarsdale, uplifting families and strengthening the local economy. We extend our support beyond the factory through contributions to local crèches, old‑age homes and community projects. With a team that’s 98% people of colour, we prioritise fair labour, respect and growth opportunities for historically disadvantaged groups – fostering empowerment and dignity in the workplace.

Our Legacy

By rebuilding a globally competitive national brand, embedding durability and sustainability into our products, and supporting a resilient local industry, we aim to restore our reputation as the global gold standard supplier in towelling to secure a future where South African manufacturing thrives.
