Caring for Your Colibri™ Towels
Keep Your Towels Luxurious, Fresh & Enduring
Less is More: Detergent Edition
Your Colibri™ towels adore a light touch, so use only half your usual detergent or washing powder. Too much detergent or washing powder dulls their plush softness, makes fibres feel stiff and hard.
Vinegar: Nature’s Fabric Softener
Every now and then, add a splash of white vinegar to your towels before rinsing. Vinegar naturally dissolves extra soap and hard water build-up, breathing life back into your towels’ absorbency.
Say No to Fabric Softeners
Fabric softeners can cause a waxy build-up on your towels, weighing them down and decreasing their absorbency.
Towels Only, Please!
Wash your towels on their own, making sure to separate by colour. Warm washes can cause colour to bleed, staining light towels in the process. Washing towels separately from other fabrics also prevents fibre pills that ruin their luxurious feel.
Drying, The Colibri™ Way
After use, give your towels space to breathe by hanging them flat and allowing them to air-dry. This is the secret to fresh, fluffy towels. When using a dryer, keep it cool and gentle, avoiding long cycles or overcrowding to keep fibres voluminous and soft.
Pro tip: Toss clean tennis balls into the tumble dryer and watch your towels bounce back to their original plushness.
Stain Removal Pro Tips
Mascara & Eyeliner
Quickly dab with dishwashing liquid, rub gently and rinse with warm water. For stubborn stains, soak in a warm mix of dishwashing liquid and stain remover, then rinse and repeat for a flawless finish.
Foundation
Oil-free: Lather on shaving cream, rub and rinse with warm water.
Oil-based: Soak overnight in a bubbly bath of hot water, bicarbonate of soda and detergent or washing powder, then wash with your favourite stain remover.
Lipstick
Dab with a white paper towel or toilet paper and surgical spirits, then add a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Leave it for 20 minutes before rinsing and washing.
Nail Polish
Dab carefully with acetone-soaked paper towels, toilet paper or cotton swabs, working your way inwards to avoid spreading. Wash as usual to remove every trace.
Blood
Fresh: Rinse with cold water until it’s gone.
Older stains: Dab with a gentle hydrogen peroxide soak and a wash with a stain remover.
Sweat
Wash fresh stains immediately. For stubborn ones, dab with a sponge and a mild vinegar solution. Wash with ½ a cup of bicarbonate of soda.
Urine
Soak in equal parts vinegar and water, then wash with bicarbonate of soda for that fresh towel feeling.
Oil
Sprinkle cornstarch (Maizena) to soak up the oil, brush it off with an old toothbrush or soft-bristled brush, then treat with a bit of dishwashing liquid before washing with a splash of vinegar.
Your Colibri™ towels are designed to be an expression of your personal style and enhance your comfort. With a little tender loving care, they’ll stay that way for years to come.
